The God given desire to “quit” sin

The Holy Spirit gives those who believe in Christ (for personal forgiveness)…a desire to “quit”sin.

When the believer in Christ finds personal forgiveness granted by God the character and make-up up this believer is changed by the Grace of God. Morally changed with a new God-given desire to “do right”. For the first time in life a believer in Christ has the “power to do right” because God gave it to him.

The Bible calls this power, “Power to become sons of God”. This power is given to the heart of a believer in Christ by the Spirit of holiness.  The same Spirit of holiness that raised Christ from the grave (Romans 1:1-5) . What a blessing! So great is this blessing upon those who believe in Christ and find personal forgiveness from sin as a result personal trust in Christ’s death and shed blood on the cross at Calvary.

God doesn’t forgive man “just because he asks for forgiveness”. God forgives the believer because this person trusted in Christ’s suffering and death alone for personal forgiveness.  When forgiveness is found the heart is made clean and holy. The believer’s desires are to please and obey God. Oh, how precious and powerful is the Grace of God that “revolutionizes” and “liberates”the moral make-up of the believer!

Christ is alive and the power and presence of His Spirit is what gives us the power to do right and to quit sin. The Divine Savior is so much greater than the carnal man. Christ is so much greater than the Devil.  The Spirit is so much greater than the flesh. Holiness is so much greater than sin. Glory!

Thanks be to God for His great Grace which is so much greater than sin. All given to us freely through belief and trust in what Christ did and what He’s doing now from the Throne-room. The God-given desire to “quit” sin? “How precious is this gift so that a believer in Christ can live holy and right everyday of his life on planet earth…by the grace of God”!

Aren’t you glad Jesus is the lamb of God that took away the sins of the world? He died for you personally. He forgives you personally…and gives you a desire to quit sin.  So you can live holy and right in Christ. Clean and pure and be a vessel sanctified for the master’s use. you are bought for a price. Prove it to God who bought and saved you through the death of His Son on the cross!

Morally changed with a new God-given desire to “do right”. For the first time in life a believer in Christ has the “power to do right” because God gave it to him.- Praise the Lord for the change in us – we could never do it ourselves except with the help of the Holy Spirit. Thank God.
