Psalm 11:1-3 In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me:
“Flee like a bird to your mountain. 2 For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. 3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
Response: How often O Lord have my enemies tried to put fright in me so that I turn my focus from trust in You to their fearsome opposition and appearance. O Lord I will take refuge in You. I will not flee but maintain my ground standing on Your Word and promises that You are with me. Greater are You in me than he that is in the world. If I regard not iniquity in my heart, You will hear my call. O praise the Lord! I know where and who my salvation is. Nothing can destroy except by your permission and You love me even to send Your darling Son to give His life for me that I will not be destroyed by sin’s dread sway. No matter the enemy and whatever form he may take, even when nature trembles by earthquake, my God is greater than he and all his cahoots. With a sling and a stone, David had smitten a giant before whom the whole hosts of Israel were trembling, and the Lord, who delivered him from the uncircumcised Philistine, could surely deliver him from King Saul and his agents.
There is no such word as “impossibility” in the language of faith; that martial grace knows how to fight and conquer, but she knows not how to flee. I will not fear. My trust is in my living Lord who will reign as King of kings and Lord of lords and to whom every knee must bow, in heaven, on the earth and below the earth. He reigns victorious. Hallelujah. This is my God, victorious and Ruler over all! Amen.
