Faith Child – God prepares the messenger

You have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Now you have the commission to Go and Tell the world about it. How do you prepare to do it? By knowing and experiencing the Word of God. Only then can you testify of what God is doing in your life -changing you to be more beautiful in His image. We serve a Risen and living Lord Who is interested in what happens to us every moment of the day. He comforts and guides us and fulfils His Word in our lives. His promises in the Word are ever true.

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. James 1:22-25

GOOD mirrors,  always tell us the truth, even if we don’t like what we see! But if a mirror is going to work properly, it must be a proper mirror. i.e. a funhouse with distorted mirrors don’t really show us how we are do they?

Let us consider 4 types of mirrors:

MIRROR #1 A PIECE OF ALUMINUM FOIL
This mirror is like the mirror of the world.
This world doesn’t really have a clear view of right and wrong. It’s blurry.

MIRROR #2 A MIRROR COVERED UP WITH STICKERS
This mirror is the reflection you get from your friends
– it looks good and pretty. But it doesn’t do much good.
Friends also have problems, and so when they tell you how good you are or how bad you are, it won’t be accurate!
They will reflect to you what their own standards are.

MIRROR #3 A MIRROR THAT IS BROKEN
This is the mirror of religion which makes a lot of good claims, and does contain some bits and pieces of truth. HOWEVER, it is cracked up and incapable of revealing the full truth.

MIRROR #4 A GOOD MIRROR, BUT SMALL.
{Put this one up on the wall} This is a good mirror. This represents the Bible, God’s Word. James tells us that it gives a  perfect reflection and can show us our strengths and our weaknesses. The only problem is, for the mirror to work, we have to get close to it!
(Try looking at yourself from a distance. Then move closer.
Notice the spot on your face and then wipe it off!)
A forgetful hearer is someone who sees themselves in God’s Mirror, but then goes away and does nothing about it. That’s silly isn’t it? If you see the problem, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

WHEN WE LOOK INTO THE MIRROR OF GOD’S WORD, WHAT DO WE SEE?
1. We see our flaws. We see that we are sinners.
2. We also see that Jesus Christ died for our sins.
3. We see that by believing in Jesus Christ, we can be
changed forever.
4. We make the necessary changes in compliance with the Word.

THE BIBLE IS UNLIKE ANY OTHER MIRROR, because it can actually change us with revelation of where we need to change and with the Holy Spirit’s enablement we can do all things through Jesus Christ.! II Corinthians 3:18 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces  (by the Word)contemplatethe Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

GOD’S MIRROR CAN MAKE US BEAUTIFUL on the inside!

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:1-6

Are you a secret believer who is selfishly keeping your testimony under wraps instead of being a light to the world?

  1. All blood-bought, adopted children of the living God SHOULD be reflectors of His light, love, mercy and grace. If we all were, the darkness of the world would be penetrated with the light of Christ.

I am responsible for my own light and in order for it to shine, I must constantly look into the mirror of God’s Word and allow it to reveal anything in me which would hinder His light from shining forth. Then I must be prepared for every opportunity to share the love of Christ with all I meet.

  2. mtsweat says:

Let us be doers of His Word, and not hearers only. In the perfect law of liberty there is blessing. As you say well, we are given the privilege of carrying and sharing the good news, “Jesus saves sinners.” The world needs to hear that message just as I did. Blessings
