CROWNS hold a fascination for most people, especially women. There was much speculation on whether or not Catherine Middleton would wear a tiara for her wedding to Prince William, and if so, which one it would be.

exchanged 1exchanged 2Crowns have long been a sign of royalty. CHARLEMAGNE wore an octagonal golden crown studded with numerous extremely precious stones. RICHARD the Lion Heart’s crown was so heavy two earls stood next to him to help bear the weight. Queen ELIZABETH’S coronation crown is valued at many millions of pounds.

If we were to put ALL the royal crowns of the world together,
they would be mere trinkets compared with CHRIST’S crown.
His crown cannot be bought.
He wears a crown of glory,
far exceeding all monetary worth and splendour.

the ONE crown which OUTSHINES all others
was not fashioned by a silversmith,
nor created with the genius of a master craftsman.
It was put together hurriedly by the rough hands of Roman soldiers.
It was not placed on His head with pomp and ceremony,
but in mockery and blasphemy.

exchanged 3exchanged 3The most amazing thing about this crown:

I deserved to wear that crown.
I deserved to feel the thrust of the thorns.
I deserved to feel the blood on my brow.
I deserved the agony.

But Christ TOOK MY crown of thorns
and He GAVE ME HIS crown of life.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin,
to BE SIN for us
so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him

In the words of the song by Graham Kendrick . . .
My Lord, what love is this, that pays so dearly
That I, the guilty one, may go free.
Amazing love! O what sacrifice!
The Son of God given for me
My debt he pays,
and my death he dies,
That I might live.

He gave His life so that I can live.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin,
to BE SIN for us
so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him

He took MY SIN
and gave me

What an exchange!
What amazing love!
What a Saviour!

Will you praise Him today for such an amazing sacrifice?

About meetingintheclouds

I am Cloudwatcher, a 76 year old Christian lady, happily married to a wonderful man for over 50 years. We have five wonderful sons, all with at least one University degree and in top positions in their chosen fields. One son is still single but four have found perfect wives and they have given us five lovely grandchildren. I was born in England and while I'm proud of my English heritage, I am doubly proud to be a true-blue, fair-dinkum Aussie. My husband and I are committed Christians whose first priority is to love and serve our risen Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. My life story will tell of my journey from abuse to peace. I suffered 22 years of abuse, being constantly told I was totally evil and an ugly freak: no one would ever want me, so I might as well do the world a favour and kill myself.

Wonderful words of worship good friend! It was my sin that held Him on that tree. Oh what a day it will be to see Him face to face and adorn Him with the Crowns that He alone deserves!!

    • We worship and praise Him, but we would all agree that we don’t come near to His goal for us. However, one day soon – maybe very soon – we will worship Him with NO distractions and NO thoughts of self, and we will pour out our love and praise and worship with whole hearts.

      We are one day closer!

None of us can begin to understand the meaning of “sacrifice for others” when compared to what the Lord has done for us. He GAVE UP everything so that we might GAIN everything. What great love. What a great motivation to serve Him with our all. Lord bless you my friend.

  3. I LOVE THIS BLOG! I read it yesterday and it completely changed my mood. I rejoice every time I am reminded of the glorious exchange Jesus made for us because He loves us very much. I am so eternally grateful to God who sent His Son Jesus to die so we can be made pure and whole and righteous before our Father God. I feel so alive and new with the Holy Spirit thriving inside of me. Praise the Lord He took our filth and sins and gave us a crown of glory and the hope of heaven in exchange! We are unworthy, but He is worthy. We owe our lives to Him!

    • I guess we will never fully comprehend the enormity of God’s love while we are on this earth, but we praise Him for the REALITY of our experience. When we think of that great exchange – that God gave His most precious to redeem us – we realise how much of a treasure we must be to Him.

To use the words of Isaac Watts –
      Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all

I am ever thankful that Jesus wore that crown of thorns for me. It is indeed amazing and something I will never truly understand. I saw an image online around Easter time that was awesome — the left hand side was of the crown of thorns that morphed into the glorious crown of the King of Kings on the right side. The caption said: “A lot can happen in three days.” Amen!

    • We will never understand or comprehend the enormity of His love in this life, but the time is coming when we will be presented faultless before His throne, and THEN we will worship Him and praise Him for the whole of eternity – and cast our crown at His feet!

That image said it all, didn’t it? The resurrection proved that Jesus’ sacrifice was acceptable to God, and His life in us proves the REALITY of our new life in Him.

One day we will crown Him with many crowns – what a day that will be! Cloudwatcher.
He will be King of kings and Lord of lords.
