The Bible terms faith in Christ as, “faithfulness”. Faithfulness to Christ can be defined as staying on the mark.
As sons and daughters of God we are “born into the Spirit”. The new birth thus makes fallen man a child of God. Children of God are faithful and obedient to God…not unfaithful and disobedient. Obedience and faithfulness to God are, “Staying on the mark”.
Fallen man is powerless to get on the mark. Reason? A sinner by nature. The mind, will, and intellect are controlled by the power of sin. Missing the mark is the nature and inclination of fallen man. The worst is rejection of Christ.
A new-born child of God is different. Faith in Christ for redemption from sin has taken this believer into a place of God-given power. Not only forgiveness from sin but a new nature and new conduct that empowers the believer into a place where “staying on the mark” is a necessary way of life. A place of peace and contentment found in Christ. Unlike the old life and the old ways you used to act.
Staying on the mark stems from a God-given blessing to the believing heart. Faith in Christ brings in “power from above”. Power to have a clear conscience. Power to live right. Power to make right decisions and choices. Power to overcome the deceitfulness of sin.
The New Testament truth of the Bible doesn’t teach men to “fall short” but teaches that children of God can “stay on the mark”. How? Faith in Christ brings into the soul…the power of God’s Grace. God’s Grace does more than just save the soul. Grace teaches men to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. By doing such the son or daughter of God can stay on the mark every day of their existence on this side of Heaven.
Faith in Christ means being faithful to the Lord God Almighty. Staying subject to His enthronement where He’s alive now. Jesus is alive and rules from His Throne in Heaven. He rules His members because He’s the Head of the Body. Jesus is the one who gives those of us who are subject to Him…the power to be right, do right, and act right. By trusting Christ we can live like children of God and stay on the mark in the personal life, the marriages, the parenthood, the retirement, the workplace, in the world we live in, as children, teenagers, or elderly. God is no respecter of persons. All are to stay on the mark which means being faithful to God.
Faithful along life’s never way because He lives to walk with us…………yes we can be faithfu by His grace only….He lives and I live rejoicing in faith.
