First, prophecy reveals a suffering Savior; second, prophecy reveals what fallen man is. In light of the power and presence of Christ, prophecy shows man his natural rejection of a Savior’s love.
“Rejection of Christ – not acceptance – is man’s natural inclination toward Christ.”
Faith comes to the heart of fallen man by hearing the Word of God. Prophetic truth stirs the soul of a natural man. The Word gives evidence. The Word ministers the Spirit. So, how does prophecy reveal the basis of faith? The person, power, and presence of Christ are revealed through preaching.
The suffering of Christ reveals to fallen man what he really is. Two things are recognized. Man’s need for a Savior and; a Savior’s love for fallen man. Faith is ministered through preaching prophecies about Christ. Revelation brings faith from the heart of man. Faith is exercised and based on what God said. Faith is exercised and based on the truth behind what God promised about Christ.
Faith is based on truth found in the prophetic Word of God…which reveals things about, “the person of Christ”.
“Revelation of the suffering Christ sways the heart of fallen man…even enough to believe”.
