“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:2-3. KJV

Don’t you think Jesus was glad to get home again? What a reunion THAT must have been. Father and Son together again.

When mom and dad were alive I loved going back to Shenandoah.

Living more than 1,000 miles from home since I was 19 made trips home exciting andhome festive. Almost ideal. When I got there, I wanted time to stop. I wanted to savor every minute with my folks in the home where I grew up.

I slept in the same bed I slept in growing up. Home was always toasty warm for winter Steve and Sam visits and comfortably cool in summer. Mom and Dad welcomed me home. They were as excited to see me as I was to see them. They cooked for me. Served me. Loved me.

Unfortunately visits home were usually not more than 10 days or so. I cried every time I had to leave home.

But, I’m going home again. This time I won’t have to leave. Time will stop. I’ll see mom and dad again. And my grandparents and my aunts and uncles and cousins and friends I’ve known who are already home.

Even better than that, I’ll be with my heavenly Father. And with Jesus, I’ll get to see the mansion He prepared for me. The one He came to receive me for because He wants to be with me.

And I’ll never leave Home again.

About Steven Sawyer

God blessed me with the gift of writing. Mom told me I wrote paragraphs in second grade when others were learning to write sentences. I spent more than three decades in professional writing gigs. For the past eight years I've combined my passion for writing with my love for the Lord. He and I write a Christ-centered, family-friendly blog to glorify God Monday-thru Friday at https://stevensawyer.wordpress.com/. My wife and I have four grown children and two precious granddaughters we co-parent with their mom. I'm a Galatians 2:20 disciple of Christ seeking to allow Christ to live His life in me, through me, and as me.

Oh the city we long for… the one not made with hands. To see Him face to face, our Savior to embrace. O glorious day! Wondrous thoughts good friend.

What happy thoughts Steve and it is true – we will be going home one day and never have to say goodbye to those in The Lord. Praise The Lord!
