HE LIFTS US UP: LUST…..Beware! It’s Not Love (Gal.5:16)

Beware of the dangers! So many people are in such a hurry to “find that special someone” or to be “in a relationship” (like the status they put on Facebook) that they often ignore some important warning signs or let go of the standards that they have set for themselves. Many teenagers especially feel pressured to “have a boyfriend or girlfriend.” They actually feel like they are missing out on something that other’s have or even missing an important part of their young lives. When this happens, sometimes the things that they had found that they did not like in people will suddenly become tolerable. The ways that others act which they could not stand before… becomes acceptable. The negative words or curse words that others speak, which they would have never spoken before this time, becomes funny or OK. The standards which they had set for themselves during their young lives become lower. But, is the end result happiness?

Emotions become awakened. These feelings are ignited that are new and exciting. The light touch of a hand, a brush of the lips, a loving word whispered in an ear…all of these things awaken a feeling deep inside of a person with a desire for more. It creates a connection that slowly tugs at the heart of those who desire a loving relationship. It is an attraction that pulls two people together like magnets. But, is it real or is it a monster that is being awakened, like a sleeping giant?

broken heart

A desire for love possibly opens a door for lust to come in. Whenever someone lowers their standard of behavior, accepting behaviors or actions or words that they would have never accepted previously, beware of these feelings. Many times, these attractions are confused with “love”, but may actually be “lust”. Because, when the “fog” clears and they are thinking clearly, how many of these things that they had suddenly accepted… will become unacceptable again. How many hearts who had opened themselves up to be hurt will be broken again…only needing more healing before they are ready to proceed into a true love relationship. These hearts need to be guarded and protected so they will not be broken when these teenagers are too young to really understand. Opening your heart to lustful desires is dangerous. There is a saying that “Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.” This includes giving in to “LUST”……Beware! Lust is not love! It will not last and only leads to broken hearts.
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”(Galatians 5:16)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for healing for all who have been hurt by lust and other deceptive tactics of Satan. I pray that eyes will be opened and deception will be exposed and that many more will come to know You and Your perfect Love… in Jesus’ name. Amen.
