Jesus has power to forgive sins

Scriptures teach that Jesus forgave men of there sin when He walked the Earth.

Luke 5:20…And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee

The reason Jesus had power to forgive sin is because He was God in the flesh. God is not limited to “one person” only. God is a singular word and has a plural meaning. God is the person of the Father in Heaven. God is the person of Jesus. God is the person of the Holy Spirit. Three distinct persons. All three persons are members of the Divine Godhead. Only God has power to forgive sin. That’s why Scriptures teach Jesus had (and still has) power to forgive sin.

Many religions around the globe deal with forgiveness  of sins differently. Some religions –  do not offer forgiveness from God – they simply teach people to “do good” thus leaving accountability to God out of the equation. Forgiveness comes from God.

Forgiveness is granted to man from God…thus leaving man in right-standing with God. Forgiveness is a pardon from God. Jesus pardons people from sin – because they place their faith in Him – in His person – and in His power. Forgiven is a state of being granted to the believing heart…by God Himself.

Jesus came to earth as the Promised Messiah. Jesus was God in the beginning before Mary conceived. Jesus is God now where He’s exalted and seated at the right hand of the Father. Jesus is coming again to the Judge the sheep and the goat nations. When Jesus comes again He will purge the Earth of sin and death – and will rule from the Throne of His Father David in Jerusalem.

Scriptures teach in many places Jesus  was God:

Matthew 1:23…Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

This is why Jesus had power to forgive sin.
