HE LIFTS US UP: HATE is a Banned Word! (in my own house)

H-A-T-E !

Hate is such a harsh word. It is a word that causes so much hurt to so many people!

How many people, including innocent children, are hurt by that word when they hear these words spoken to them or  even to others. When they hear it, they believe it…

Words like:LOVE.HATE2

I hate you…

I hate myself…

I hate my body…

I hate your clothes…

I hate my name

I hate your name…

I hate your family…

I hate your hair…

I hate life…

I hate what you stand for…

I hate God…

I hate everything…

As I have raised my children, I have always tried to teach them not to use the word “hate”. I told them that “hate” was so harsh and so negative that it should not be used. I encouraged them to use “do not care for” or “do not like” … like, “I do not like vegetables”, or “I do not like that song”.  I told them that saying something is HATED sounds mean and harsh. I never wanted my children to say something that would hurt anyone. No one deserves to be hurt by any actions or any words… We should not use the word HATE.

Proverbs 10:12 says, “Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.”

You see, hate is already a banned word in my home. I no longer want dissension in my house. Love is patient and kind and forgives all wrongs. We have to start teaching our children when they are young so that this world can eventually be a better place… CHANGE STARTS WITH ONE PERSON TAKING THE FIRST STEP TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE… I HAVE TAUGHT MY CHILDREN TO SHOW “LOVE”,  not “HATE”…. I ASK YOU TO DO THE SAME.

Prayer: Lord, help us to walk as You walk, showing love and compassion to all. Help us to say what You say and do what You do as we walk with You, in Spirit and Truth, to reach out to those in need with the Love of Christ… in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. I don’t believe in banning words, or symbols in general, except for deliberate lies. I agree with your ideas though. Please keep in mind, however, that censorship of others’ speech and symbolism, unless done judiciously, is prone to danger like crazy. With your own minor children, it’s different. My point is about how people should treat each other under most circumstances. God gave mankind the capacity to hate, precisely in order that he can be capable of hating sin. In that sense, we need it.

    That’s great. I’ve tried very hard not to use the word “hate” for the reasons you state – it’s just a very negative word. I never ever apply it to people in any way as it only drags me down and leaves me feeling angry. Great job with your children. If they don’t use the word hate, chances are less that they will feel it.

    Reblogged this on The Abuse Expose' with Secret Angel and commented:

    The word HATE causes problems to many. Many abusers use it. It is a word that we need to be careful when using.

  6. I never allowed my children to use the word ‘hate’ either – and thankfully, decades later, I never hear them or their children use the word.

      Amen… I thank you for teaching your children this also. I would tell my children that they were held to a higher standard than what others did and I pray that when they are married and have children that they will do this also. Many blessings to you my friend!!

    Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
    where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    where there is injury, pardon;
    where there is doubt, faith;
    where there is despair, hope;
    where there is darkness, light;
    and where there is sadness, joy.

    O Divine Master,
    grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
    to be understood, as to understand;
    to be loved, as to love;
    for it is in giving that we receive,
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
    and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

      Beautiful… Thank you so much. It has been years since I have seen this and this prayer is so fitting. This is the perfect prayer for all of us. I absolutely love it. If you don’t mind, I may use it one day. Thanks again!! Love you!!

    “Hate” would be a great word to ban from the language. Thanks.
