HE LIFTS US UP: The Greatest Love of All… (1 John 4:8)

The Greatest Love of All…

I have written several postings about love. But this one is about the “Greatest Love”. It is not human love. Human love can not compare. You see, the greatest love of all is actually the love of God. It’s a Pure Love. It’s a Love that is non-condemning, non-threatening, non-confrontational, non-demanding, non-abusive… pure Agape Love. God accepts us like we are with a non-conditional love. His grace and mercy are sufficient to cover all of our faults/sins and like the father of the prodigal son, God has His arms open wide awaiting our return to Him…

So, when I think about “the greatest love of all”, I then think about the song of that name.

But, I will talk about 2 different aspects of this song.

First…You see, the lyrics tell you something very important…

“I found the greatest Love of all
Inside of me
The greatest Love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest Love of all”

and then:

“Find your strength in Love”

You see, I feel that the love that she is singing about is that Agape Love. God’s Love is the Greatest of All. Unlike man, He never leaves us or forsakes us. He never abuses or misuses. He is gentle, kind, loving, compassionate, patient, faithful and peaceful. There is no strife or confusion with the Love of God…

1 John 4:8 tells us,
“God is Love.” It’s this Love of God that allows you to love yourself. It’s the love inside of us as we invite Christ into our hearts. It is that Love that gives us strength. Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The last verse says, “Find your strength in love”… Well, to rephrase that, Find you strength in God… because God is Love!

Lord, help Your children to find their way to You. Open their hearts to receive Your Love. Let them feel Your all consuming Presence so that they will know the difference in human love and Your Love. Let Your Fire burn within them and let them feel Your Peace that surpasses all human understanding. I pray for a mighty move of Your Spirit across this land that millions will feel Your Love and come to know You with a new-found intimacy with You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Amen. We serve an awesome God. I pray that more will come to know Him. Many blessings my sister!

      • That is my desire as well . . . that more may come to know Him. I pray that via my postings of His word, that I may reach out to the hurting, the lost, those in need of encouragement, those in need of uplifting, etc. – to anyone that needs Him, need more of Him, and even those that are searching and are not quite aware of their need for Him! The internet is used for so much today – why not use it for His glory!

        Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

        Be blessed!

AMEN… AMEN… I totally agree, my sister! Do all things unto the Lord… giving Him the glory, honor, and praise. I started this blog last year to reach out the the broken from abuses of this world after God told me to write my book, The Walking Wounded and start a ministry. So many are broken and need to know the Love of our Father. I join with you in prayer for all to come to know Him. Many blessings to you, my “lovely sister!”

Dear Angel, You post is great, as is the video. There is another verse on love that is very close to me. It is John 15:13,”Greater love as no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” Love is not something “that you play with.” No one should ever “toy with” the emotions of someone else. I know that pastors “are not supposed to have had a deep teen love,” but I surely did. Her name was “_ _ _ _ _ _. ” Anyway, she broke my heart. It was very painful. Boy!!! Did I cry? (at age 16.) Most certainly. The flood gates opened up, and never seemed to end. But, my greatest love, with Jesus, has never ended. He has never broken my heart. He never made me cry, except with emotions of gratitude for his saving me from Hell. We read in Hebrews 13:5 the words of our Lord Jesus, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” If you can remember one of my stories about a Godly woman that I knew as a teen, she said that when she was first being led to Jesus, she read the gospels over and over until she fell in love with Him. That is the kind of intimate relationship that we should have with our Lord, a love that is far greater than any that we have ever had with anybody else in our past, present, or future, except with Jesus of Nazareth, God with us, Jesus, Master, Savior, Lord, Name above all names.”
    John 17:3

Amen.. I totally agree. His Love is like no other. He is a Gentleman, never pushing Himself on us and never hurting us. He heals our broken hearts and binds up all of our wounds. No human can do that.
