Last week, I was having Bible study with my home assistant from Myanmar.
I sensed a heaviness in her spirit and asked her why.
As Mother’s day was approaching as well as the anniversary of her mother’s death, she felt sad and alone. I wanted to minister to her and asked the Lord to give her His Word for that day.
We discussed two portions of Scripture :
…9Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation! 10For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the LORD will take me up.11Teach me Your way, O LORD,
…4Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and exult before Him. 5A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation. 6God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
My assistant had not seen her father in Myanmar since she was three years old. We recently celebrated her twenty seventh birthday in Singapore.
Her mother suddenly left her for heaven nearly one year ago and she felt so lonely as her sister in Myanmar had recently married.
She is in a strange land for the first time leaving Myanmar and moving to Singapore to find work. She felt so alone.
She has a relationship with the Lord – Jesus as her Savior and Lord but not as her Father.
The Lord will take her up as He promised – He will be her Father.
She was comforted and with a sigh of relief cried “O my Father“. She had found a new truth that day. Her eyes were opened to her Father who was waiting for her to acknowledge Him. She felt secure.
Because of language difficulties in English I insist that she makes a three sentence prayer in English at the end of every Bible lesson. Her prayer was simple and profound. In simple faith and trust.
I accept and come to you as my Father.
Be my Father. Thank You.
Help me to listen and be obedient to You.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen
In your lonely and fearful wanderings and wonderings, and being far away from home
- how long has it been since you came to and talked so simply in faith and trust to your Father in heaven?
- Have you been listening and hearing Him speak to you?
- Have you obeyed?
So easy to say you are lonely.
Your Father in heaven is waiting for you to acknowledge Him, trust and obey.
Have you? Will you today?
Accept His peace and love today.
