HE LIFTS US UP: What Kind of “Fruit” Do We Produce?

Many victims of abuse have been fooled by deceptive people. The warning signs get ignored as words or acts of being “sorry” are expressed or done… then the cycle continues again. Now, victims have asked how to tell if someone is truly a “good” person since  so many get deceived.  Well, Galatians 5 and Matthew 7 explain the difference in behaviors…

Galatians 5:19-21 says,The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.”

Then Galatians 5:22-23 says, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Now, Matthew 7:17-18 discusses these good and bad “fruit”when it explains that “every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

So, as we think about this, what kind of “fruit” do we produce? What kind of “fruit” do others in our lives produce?

We each have a choice…

  1. I have lived this decision first hand, and it was only after I was honest about the kind of fruit my abuser was bearing and seperated myself from him completely that my life healed and I once again began to bear “good fruit”. Thank you for this post.
It was simply and powerfully written, and will bless the lives of those struggling with abuse.

Thank you so much. I too struggled with being deceived and abused by others, but this scripture helped me to identify traits in them that they could not really hide even when they tried. God is so good!! Many thanks and many blessings to you!
