Don’t wag your tails, Republicans. You won’t be there either.
I cringe when I hear my conservative friends lambast Democrats. And I gag when I listen to TV’s talking heads insult and belittle conservative Republicans. Those two political parties, in my opinion, have polarized our country’s voters to irreconcilable extremes.
The conservative right convince themselves that Jesus is a Republican who supports their push to protect freedom of the individual and marketplace and protect the lives of the unborn. Meanwhile the liberal left convince themselves that Jesus is on their side as they lobby for environmental causes and governmental health care for the poor.
Jesus was not political. In fact, he took every opportunity to condemn Pharisees and teachers of the law. Jesus says, “They (Pharisees and teachers lf the law) tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. Everything they do is done for people to see. (From Matthew 23).
Paul helps clarify those we’ll see in heaven:
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Politics is all about doing good for a select group of voters to gain power and feed egos. Jesus is all about spreading His gospel and loving one another.
