Following Jesus unrelentlessly is a choice every Faith Child must make.
We cannot yo-yo undecidedly to follow Jesus because a double-minded person is unstable in all his/her ways. Being steadfastly following Jesus, means not only to do what Jesus would do, but also why would Jesus do it?
Following blindly could lead to blind obedience which is not sustainable for the long term till we reach glory, our destination.
Following Jesus means we know our destination and will not be distracted by the allures of this world, not be discouraged by the difficulties we face, and not to dump the cause at the slightest trial and temptation. We see Jesus undaunted, knowing His Father’s mission and the need to fulfill it.
51When the days were approaching for His ascension, He was determined to go to Jerusalem; 52and He sent messengers on ahead of Him, and they went and entered a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.…John 9:51-52.
We see Jesus making preparation, influencing and determinedly pursing His cause for coming to earth, till it was fulfilled. Are we doggedly following the road being marked for us by the Lord? Do we ever lose purpose and suffer self-pity to be paralyzed from following Jesus?
Following Jesus means we will “Look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith”. He is our example .
Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Are you looking for and at the direction He gives? Not our own agenda, but His if we choose to follow Him.
Not our time but His. Do we ever linger too long at a comfortable spot in life? .We must needs do or go where Jesus wants, knowing why.
And he must needs go through Samaria John 4:4
Christ’s road from Judea to Galilee lay through Samaria. We should not go into places of temptation but when we needs must and then we must and not dwell in them.
Remember of one who dwelt among them?
The Son of the Highest was here in this lower world. He was in the world, but not of it.
Do you know His purpose? Your purpose?
Do you know His direction? Your direction?
He does not dwell in some places – do you?
Knowing is not following. Following is choosing to be doggedly following despite the cost. What is your cost of following Jesus? You must pay the price.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
Following Jesus is being a living sacrifice unto God.
