Chapter 7 Way of Truth Based on Sound Doctrine
The sons of God will know that when it comes to truth, it all comes from above. Those called and chosen to be made into the likeness of the Savior know that they are in the walk of a lifetime. They know that all truth is heaven sent. The truth about who we are and why we humans are here in the first place all comes from on high. The truth about who put us here and for what purpose, the truth about the Supreme Being’s plan for us—all this is from above.
If our Creator so desires, all truth about all of these matters and more is there for us to grasp, but there is also a strong delusion or deception out here in the world. In fact, He is the one who has created and sent a “strong delusion” out into this created realm. He has allowed this evil to be here for our good. For “there is a way that seems right unto man,” but it is not the right path and eventually leads to death.
The truth is that there are two roads–one leading to life and one leading to death. The Son of God said that He is the road, the way to life. If we go His way, if we learn just how He is the way, then we will end up in the right place. And yet, “a man can receive nothing (of the truth) except it be given him from heaven.” Without the favor from above, a person cannot receive any truth.
Many appear and are outwardly religious. They have their incantations, rituals, customs, traditions, and holidays, but they cannot receive the truth unless it is given by God, the great eternal Deity/Spirit.
The very fact that we have met on this page probably puts us in the category of being hungry for the truth. But the truth does not come to us in one day or in one revelation. He has to mold our minds so that we can be able to receive his doctrine at various levels. After our initial awakening, He will give us a bit of truth.
Whole denominations have been built upon that one initial bit of the truth that was given to a person. God has always been faithful to shed bits of light to certain individuals down through history. But what happens? That person becomes so enthusiastic about that one piece to the puzzle that he runs and builds an entire organization based on one little sliver of truth, one doctrine. One denomination is built upon a “sinner saved by grace” and “once saved always saved.” One is built on “speaking in tongues.” One is built on the “infallibility of the pope.” One is founded upon keeping the sabbath day and feasts days. One is built on the oneness of God. One is built upon using sacred names, the trinity, or grace, ad infinitum. Many, not all, have a bit of truth to them. If one denomination has, say, the righteousness of the law, then they are in error on the true Sabbath day. And then some sabbatarians may not have the sacred names of Yahweh and Yahshua. Those that do may not have the revelation of Yah-in-human-form.
We must begin to put it all together. We must sift through all the doctrines. It is a formidable task even with His help, but a necessary one. For if we are lacking a major teaching, a major truth, then we will not be able to take that next step on the road to immortality.
Each bit of truth lightens a step on the path, the way. Error blinds our eyes and confuses our equilibrium so that we get confused and lose our balance and get off the path. We then stop walking on the way of truth and get off onto paths blazed by man’s wisdom.
False doctrines cause humans to get off the path that leads to immortality. One may begin sincerely down the true path but error in knowledge of Him causes that person to get off the path and onto another road that is not heading in the same direction. Falsehoods about God’s true nature and ways enter in and the foot goes down their path and that road leads to destruction. “He that abides not in the doctrine of Christ has not God.”
If we follow a false teaching, we head down a path, taking a step that has not been ordered by Yahweh. This leads us into a place where He won’t be. We then lose His presence. We can’t get any closer to Him because we are heading, in this scenario, in the wrong direction.
So we must find out which doctrines are true and which are false. Some denominations are built upon the concept that “doctrine” is a dirty word and is not central to the walk of the Son of God. Feelings are very important to them. “Feeling the Spirit,” speaking in tongues, being “slain” in the spirit—all things seemingly “doctrine-less.” But that is not true, for everything is based on some teaching.
Doctrine is a good thing. True doctrine is contained in the scriptures. “All scripture is given by God and is profitable for doctrine.” A sure way to go down the wrong road is to not know the scriptures. “You do err. You neither know the scriptures nor the power of God.” In fact, you cannot have God without staying in His doctrine. “Whoever transgresses and abides not in the doctrine of Christ has not God.” Yes, doctrine is important to Yahweh. Sound doctrine is extremely important to God, but is of the utmost importance to us, or should be, because our lives depend on it!
Case in point: the Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection; it was not one of their doctrines that they taught and lived by, and the Master said, “You are in error. You are off. You have gotten off on the wrong path by an incorrect teaching somewhere. And the Sadducees were in trouble, for they simply did not believe in the “writings of truth.”
For the scriptures speak of a spirit world, a world of immortals, a supernatural realm which they did not believe in. And they did not believe in the resurrection—that it was possible for the dead to be raised. And every spring they had witnessed with their own eyes the earth coming back to life. And so, with that unbelief, their fates were sealed; they could not attain immortality. They had gotten off the path of truth, and it had fatal consequences for them. They had rejected a piece of truth—the resurrection—and it had cost them dearly.
But the Spirit of Truth has been promised by the Savior to those who follow Him, and the Spirit of truth will lead us into all truth. “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” And the Spirit of truth that will come to us will speak of the Son of God, the Savior, Yah-in-human-form. The Spirit of truth is the Spirit of the Master, the Messiah, for He said, “I am the truth.” So the Spirit of truth is the Savior’s Spirit, which is truth.
