In this segment of the teaching on death I will substantiate the “origin of death” and what “spiritual death” actually consists of.
In Creation, God made the first man Adam a living soul. Adam was created holy, innocent, and united with God in Spirit… both Eternally and Physically. Adam was created perfect, holy before God, and without sin. Before Adam sinned there was no such thing as death. Everything was life everlasting. Then came the offense of Adam and man died both physically and spiritually like God said he would. Adam became separated from God in the Spirit. Innocence was lost and Adam became naturally guilty before God. Adam’s physical body thus began the natural cycle of physical death and decay and extended for hundreds of years because of its change from Eternal to Temporal.
Adam’s original offense was sin against God. Adam was a violator to God’s simple command of obedience. Adam became a law-breaker. Adam left his spiritual state of being and became naturally out of harmony with the Creator. The Divine Nature that Adam was created with from creation… was lost. The natural, temporal, and carnal nature of Adam became predominant and has since plagued humanity with the same sinful nature from that time on. This plague of the inherited Adamic Nature that brings condemnation upon the human family is termed as the curse of the Fall.
The inherited carnal nature (man’s natural state) since Adam’s Fall in the Garden is the driving force today that causes humanity to sin against God. The Bible says death was passed onto the human family from the offense of Adam. In the original offense… Adam left his spiritual and eternal place of existence in the Garden of Eden. In the act of sin Adam instantly fell into a natural and temporal place of existence upon Earth. Since the Fall of Adam all human beings are born into the same natural and temporal place of existence that Adam fell to. For this very reason God promised a Savior for humanity to redeem man from the curse of the Fall of Adam.
At creation God warned Adam and Eve that if they disobeyed Him they would surely die. The magnitude of death is so vast. The act of sin that Adam and Eve committed brought death’s eternal separation from God. Humanity was no longer united with God in the Spirit. Death passed upon humanity as a result of the disobedience of Adam. Death became a temporal life instead of an Eternal Life on Earth like Adam was created originally. Death became an enslaved life which would lead to guilt rather than an innocent life like Adam had before the Fall. Adam’s Sin brought forth death and death made all of humanity sinful and guilty in the eyes of God. Guilt reveals God’s condemnation upon the human conscience. Death and condemnation overcame life and reigned throughout humanity.
A sinner is condemned by God as the result of sin that brings forth death. Condemnation from God is Eternal Death without a spiritual union with God. A sinner without pardon or Spiritual union with God is doomed to Eternal Death of the human soul. No human mind can comprehend such degree of death. The Bible states clearly that a sinner by nature is naturally a child of wrath. God’s Divine Judgment is automatically upon the unregenerate and unredeemed soul. On the opposite side of the spectrum…a saint who receives imputed righteousness from Christ is pardoned from God’s condemnation of Eternal Death. The saint who is pardoned from the penalty of sin also has the power of God’s righteousness to live and do right in this life. It’s called the holy heart and the holy life given by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The saint who is pardoned from sin is thus freed from the penalty consisting of the condemnation of Eternal Death. Christ paid the price and gave fallen man a way to escape such Eternal Punishment.
Spiritual death caused from sin (which is separation from God) cannot be overcome by the works of man in any fashion. Only Christ can give or restore spirit life within the human soul. Sin cannot be excused or taken lightly by man in this temporal life on earth. “Sin separates man from a Spiritual union with God just like sin separated Adam from his Spiritual union with God”. Only Christ can deliver a sinful man from the penalty of sin and put man back in union with God like Adam was before the Fall. Only Christ can pardon a sinful man from all sins of the past. Only Christ can give sinful man a holy heart like Adam had before the Fall. Can holiness of heart be lost or regained in this life? Yes. Holiness can be lost and regained by your personal faith in Christ and obedience to God. Faith in Christ can be lost. Faith in Christ can be regained. By losing faith and regaining faith the union with God in the Spirit can be lost and the union with God in the Spirit can be reinstated. God’s mercy endureth forever. That simple.
In holiness of heart which is the spiritual union with God…there is no condemnation. In unholiness of heart which a is the spiritual separation from God…there is condemnation or Eternal Death. The only thing that can deliver man from spiritual death is redemption from the person of Christ. The only thing that separates man from redemption found in Christ is sin. Sin separated Adam from being a living soul. Belief and Trust in Christ can rejoin man back to God in the Spirit. The Bible clearly teaches such truth in Christ who has power to quicken man’s spirit. As we know death reigns at this present hour as a result of Adam’s sin. As we also know, no matter what condition of the heart only Justification of life from Christ can quicken or reunite the heart of man with the Spirit of God. The Bible terms this union or re-union with God in the Spirit…as being passed from death unto life.
The wages of sin is death. Death is spiritual separaration from God. Sin brings spiritual separation from God just like sin separated Adam from God. The secret to Christianity is to stay united with Christ in the power and presence of His Holy Spirit. The Spirit life of a child of God is abundant life found in Christ. Abundant life is a holy life on this side of Heaven. Eternal life is the blessing of the holy life found on the other side in Heaven. A life in Christ in the Spirit is the holy life you can ever experience on this side of Heaven. Stay in Christ by keeping the faith. By keeping the faith Christ quickens us and makes us alive and and holy…with His Holy Spirit. The blessing of Christ in the Spirit is the clean heart and holy life. By keeping yourself in the holy state of being you will never see or experience death. Be blessed in Christ and remember…The wages of sin is death and death is spiritual separaration from God. Do not err my beloved Brethren.
James 1:14-16…But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.

New International Version 1984
54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”g
55“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”h
56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
