HE LIFTS US UP: Father to the Fatherless

As I prayed one morning, my heart went out to all those who have been hurt by the actions of parents and then I heard this song by Jason Upton as I thought of this poem… “Father to the Fatherless”.

Many are so broken,
from the failures of a parent…
but abusive mothers or fathers,
are not always apparent.
Abandonment also happens,
with wounds real and deep.
And these wounds hurt,
causing many to weep.
Many decisions for our futures,
are based on wounds of our past.
Whether accepting more abuses,
or seeking “love” too fast.
For children learn by example,
and will replicate what they see.
But so many are “fatherless”,
and good parenting is a key.
For God gives us children,
to raise as He has spoken.
And He’s Father to the fatherless…
for all those who are broken.

Psalm 68:5…  “Father to the fatherless, defender of widows–this is God, whose dwelling is holy.”

Dear Lord, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. You love the broken and have collected all of their tears. You see the anguish that so many suffer from and the loneliness that plague many with issues of abandonment. Fill them with Your Presence. Heal them and deliver them from the traumas of their past. Let them sense Your Hugs and Love so they will know that they are never alone. Let the fatherless and the widows walk in Divine favor with You… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

So beautiful this is, as you Glorify our Father. God bless you for what you are doing, and God bless you for your warm, loving soul. Amen!

A person’s past is a part of who they are. We cannot lie to ourselves and pretend things in our past never happened. When there are deep hurts in our past, it is not helpful or wise to build a wall around it and put up a “NO TRESPASSING” sign. Instead, we have to give the keys over to the Lord Jesus and allow Him to walk in with us and shine His light. Only then can we be free to heal and move forward. Knowing the truth makes us free!
“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.” Psalm 27:10
May healing begin as you allow The Lord Jesus to take you up.

Amen… You are so right. So many have put up “no trespassing” signs but Jesus is the Key and we have to open our hearts to Him. He loves the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds… all we have to do is trust Him and His promises.
