If it is in the atonement, it is for everybody, and it is for now.The entire fullness of Christianity is conceived, gestated and birthed in an ever growing understanding of all that Christ’s death and resurrection brings to the believer. According to Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, in the first chapter, he spends the first half of the chapter explaining how we have, “every blessing,” that heaven can afford, simply because as a believer I am “in Christ,” and then he spends the latter half of the chapter praying that we understand and see, with ever increasing clarity, what we have as explained in the first half of
the chapter, in Christ’s death and resurrection. In a nutshell, the first half of the chapter would be simply static, non moving truth, if it was not for the fact that the Holy Spirit makes those truths dynamic, alive, moving and growing with infinite power within us.
In modern street language, talking in parable type description: God has deposited an infinite amount of heavenly currency in each believers heavenly bank account, effective on earth, in this life, in the “now”. It is us, we ourselves that write the cheques and make the withdrawals that are living currency in our time space world.
Everything a Christian has comes from the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross, and communicated by the resurrection life that is ours – and we receive it by faith. Our faith is our connection. And it is a firm, grip like connection. There is more power in the faith we possess than 99.9% of Christians realise. Read the whole of Ephesians 1 again and see this as truth. The lives of many Christians are like driving a Formula 1 vehicle, designed to cruise at well over 100 miles per hour, but they are not exceeding the 5 miles per hour we use to reverse down our driveway.
Preachers and theologians refer to all things to do with salvation as being, “In the atonement.” That is healthy terminology, because it is true. It is “Christianese” language for saying that Christ bought it on the cross, and that when He cried “It is finished,” the full price had been paid for all the resources that save us and set us free and defeat the devil.
Salvation is all about forgiveness, healing, deliverance, resurrection life, raising the dead, prosperity, power and grace all being poured into the life of whosoever believes, and being sustained by that same power and life continually. The same electricity that turns a light on is the same flow of power that keeps it on.
My absolute conviction of life is based on the belief system that I have just outlined skeletally above. The huge, earth convulsing extrapolation that follows concerning whatever flows to humanity from the atoning work of Christ, is that it is for absolutely anybody, and it is always for here and now. That’s God speaking. For this writer, any statement that suggests that there is anybody outside the pale of the provision of the gospel message of Christ is not only mistaken, it is downright heresy. As well as covering every soul on the globe, the scripture screams loud and clear, “Now is the accepted time. Now is the day of salvation.”
These statements above are the very reason why the people of the first century, and Christ Himself, referred to this message as, “The Gospel,”- “The Evangel,” – the meaning of which, in the Greek, means, “The almost too good to be true News.”
In English we talk about somebody being saved, healed, delivered, brought back to life, prospered, sustained and/or kept in God. There is one bible word that covers all that. The word that’s used in the original Greek of the New Testament is Soteria (salvation) and/or Sozo (to be saved, healed, or delivered etc).
It is a firm swallowing of these truths that creates a mental and spiritual platform that grasps the relevance of these facts, and uses them in the management of the miraculous, while considering what I refer to as mandatory mindsets that go towards precipitating a sustained ministry of the miraculous.
