Taking Off The Mask

Editor’s Note: The Problem With Masks addressed the things wrong with wearing masks. Now let’s explore the effective way to remove them.

Folks who wear masks believe they’re protecting themselves. They believe they’remask2 shielding themselves from ridicule, rejection and criticism from others. But what they’re really doing is walling themselves off from relationships. They’ll never enjoy intimacy and transparency that can restore their sense of well-being as long as they wear those darn masks.

Wearing masks interferes with our relationship with God. Sometimes we wear masks to hide shame and guilt we assign to choices we made in the past. That shame and guilt keep us from intimacy and relationship with God.

Unfortunately removing masks requires major surgery. We can not remove them. The Great Physician must.

Wearing masks makes us sicker. We must renounce the secret life and fake persona Satan helped us create. Satan claims our only hope for acceptance, from others or God, is wearing a mask.

The only place The Great Physician will operate is in His throne room. In His presence. For Him to operate we need to surrender all of our lives to His Holy scalpel of unconditional love, Divine forgiveness, and Sanctification.

. . .we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. 2 Corinthians 4:2a NIV

Removing masks is not day surgery. In fact it can take months or years of continuous, daily submission to The Great Physician for Him to remove a mask we’ve worn for years.

Steve, Spirit’s surgery unmasks us and reveals the truth for living victoriously in His Presence. Thanks for sharing the thought.
