I stumbled and fell, Lord
For answered prayer, I stole Your glory
Instead of giving You due glory.
I worked hard and was promoted
It was my sweat and tears I boasted
But it was You who moved mountains
In my way – people, circumstances
Yes, bosses too.
I was not thankful and attributed my rise
To being there at the right time and place
Not realizing that it was Your test for pride
Which had been built up in me
An empty boast.
I tumbled down from heights of glory
For errors I did not catch in subordinates’ greed
But Lord You knew it was more than that
For I had wandered far away from You
And You came looking in love
For Your lost wandering lamb.
Not too late Lord – Your love.
Thank You Lord, it was Your gentle voice
I heard high up in the mountains way away
It beckoned me back to Your pastures green
And beside cool waters
Phew! If only I had been more grateful,
I would not have fallen.
Thank You Lord, for second chance.
I fell, but He lifted me up
He lifted me up I know
He stretched down His hand
And lifted me up
That is why I shout and sing !
( old chorus)
