Sin teaches us how to do things the wrong way, making us deceitful and spiteful, and leading us to believe the worst in our fellow-man. Sin will cause us to be envious of our friends, and to covet our neighbor’s spouse. Sin will cause us to become dissatisfied with our job, leading us to believe that we are undervalued by our employer, and entitled to much more.
Sin will cause us to believe that God is not there for us in our times of need and cause us to doubt that our Creator even exists. Sin will take away our peace and replace it with its sorrow. Sin will take the comfort of our own home, and turn it into a war zone. Sin will cause us to believe that our spouse is not worthy of us, causing us to look elsewhere for affection. This will lead us to become unfaithful, which in turn will destroy our marriage.
Sin will cause us to take the heroes of our faith, which are the patriarchs of God’s Word and replace them with trashy celebrities that draw our attention and admiration. Sin will lead us to fill our time with useless activities that will leave us with no time at the end of the day to spend with God.
Sin will cause us to believe that we are unworthy of grace, and lead us to strive and work to make ourselves worthy of God’s mercy. Sin will lead us think that we are too smart to believe that the stories of the Bible are true, teaching us to rationalize our own truth through the world’s eyes.
Sin will teach us to believe that heaven is a fairy-tale and that hell is a lie, leading us to believe that the here and now is all we have to look forward to in our life.
But I am here to tell you in no uncertain terms that God is real, He is the truth and that sin is a liar. God’s mercy is given freely to all those who will believe, and that you will never be able to earn it. Grace will bring you comfort, happiness and a life eternal with your Creator.
So the next time you find yourself in a bad way in life, be careful and listen to who’s whispering in your ear, because sin wants to take away all that God has provided for you in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 36:1-4 Sin speaks to the ungodly within their heart; there is no respect for God their eyes. Sin flatters them in their own eyes, concerning the discovery of their iniquity and the hatred of it. The words of their mouths are wickedness and deceit; they have ceased to be wise and to do good.
John 10:10 The thief (sin) comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly.
Prayer for Forgiveness
Anonymous
Forgive me my sins, O Lord; forgive me the sins of my youth and the sins of mine age, the sins of my soul and the sins of my body, my secret and my whispering sins, the sins I have done to please myself and the sins I have done to please others. Forgive those sins which I know, and the sins which I know not; forgive them, O Lord, forgive them all I ask in Jesus’ Name . Amen
