Blessed: Makarios (grk.)-supremely blessed; by extension fortunate, well off :- blessed, happy —
All of us would agree that there are some very bad things going on in our world. But if we are not careful we can be so focused on the bad we miss the good that is also all around us. We forget to celebrate the things that bring joy to our life. We forget to be happy.
“Most of us are just about as happy as we make up our minds to be”. William Adams
I believe this is true. I don’t believe God intended for us to live our lives depressed, discouraged, defeated. Certainly there will be times when we all go through hard times, trials and suffering. But I believe we can make up our mind to be happy, blessed, even in the midst of all those things.
In Ecclesiastes 3 we read “for everything there is a season”. Yes there is a time to weep and a time to mourn, but there is also a time to laugh and a time to dance, a time to be happy!
Take time today to thank God, and celebrate all the good things He has done. Cultivate an attitude of happiness through good and bad. And remember the best is yet to come!
What does it look like to be happy in every season? Check out Matthew 5 in The Message.
The video below “Happy” by Pharrell Williams comes highly recommended by my little grandson. Every time he hears this song he gets the biggest smile on his face and begins to dance around. I am pretty sure it will do the same for you!
