Editor’s Note: I cherish all your comments. Yesterday’s post, “When Do We Own Scripture” drew several great responses. One in particular seemed to satisfy my dilemma about when we own scripture. Evelyn Goh, ChristianBlessings administrator, replied with these words. I want to share her response with you today. Enjoy.

Just two hours ago I was discussing with a friend how God’s Word keeps us pure as God is pure, as in ”How shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.” Psalm 119:9 – by first knowing( by reading, memorizing, quoting) God’s Word and absorbing it (consciously or unconsciously). By deciding or choosing to allow the Word to consciously influence our thinking, actions, conversations and relationships e.g. To love, show compassion, choose peace rather than being quarrelsome, shutting up instead of adding fire, being a bridge instead of causing a rift.
Then we are unconsciously affected by the Word when we know we are to separate ourselves from the world and in our selection of close friends, spouse and even in godly discernment which comply and not oppose the teachings of the Word.
The best way the Word becomes ours is when faith stands on the promises of God, when we see no evidence but still believe in God’s will, God’s plan and deliverance.
Thank you Evelyn for wonderful words of wisdom.
