Go ahead. Take everything you want. Everything you need. Take it all.
That’s what God said to Joshua. He was giving Him Canaan, their promise land. “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you,” God told Joshua. All they had to do was walk in and claim it. God was telling them they could have all the land they could take. But, although God gave them the land it still needed to be possessed.
The same principle applies to our desire for Christ. Ray Stedman says you can have every bit of the spiritual life that you want.¹ But we have to take it. Possess it. God will never give us more than we are ready and equipped to take.
So if we’re not happy with our walk, or our victory or our circumstances, it’s probably because we haven’t really wanted any more than we have possessed.
Is it true that, for some, a little bit of grace is better than all we need or all we can possess? And if that’s the case, are we missing out on a boat load of blessings because we don’t want to take them?
