Ah, this is the season of love and compassion. One that calls to us to be open to the newness of God’s revelations.
Some would say that the season has been soiled by events that contradict the truth of God’s promises of security and peace among men. Truly that would be His wish.
Our collective defense has been one of outrage… even the divisive choosing of sides and defenses…. and surely is that not under His control?
Well, God has a revelation for us, and it is not new. There is evil in this world. The events of this month give testimony to that reality. Many solutions are soiled by political motivations. While it poses an immense problem under any circumstances, the solution is not exclusively in our own hands, nor can any government be the sole champion of any in any moral battle. In this case we refer to it as a “battle of religious interpretations” when it is far from that.
This is a battle of evil against freedoms. While we may even agree that most “freedoms” can never be the same in every culture; at least one freedom must be inviolate; The freedom to worship.
The question then is only whom? There are supposed choices. Can the world have but one God? It can, but it may never happen short of the end- times.
How may He be identified? The same as we are, by words and deeds.
God’s words are clearly written in His Testaments. His deeds are manifold, yet uniquely personal, not fully revealed to all.
The “Battle”, so called, always begins with one act and one response, then it is compounded, then confused by interpretation and made relative to something, some outlying situation.
God has called us to rise up-way before our current conflicts; to be preemptive in our commitments; 1 Cor. 16:23 “Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be men (women) of courage. Be strong.” And, Isaiah 41: 13 “For I am the Lord, your God who takes your right hand and says to you Do not fear. I will help you”.
Those who feel God’s hand grasping for their own will be equipped with His power and judgement. They will prevail.
