Don’t we get caught up in the envy game now and then? I do. I see things my friendscornucopia have or are able to do and I often catch myself saying,

“I wish I could have…could be…could go…

When I play the envy game it always leads to the “more” syndrome.  At times, don’t we all think we need more of something?  More time. More money. More friends. More stuff. More patience. More courage. More skills. More forgiveness.

Of course, Paul is our go-to-guy for living envy-free.

Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be [h]content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13

Paul learned the secret. “I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me.” In other words, to me, that means I TOO can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It means I can face trials of unfathomable pain, loss or suffering if I “remain in Him.” I can experience the joys of abundance and blessings if I “remain in Him.” It’s always easier for me to remain in Him and give Him praise and glory when I’m in the abundance and blessings. Praise and thanksgiving is easy then.

It’s when I’m fighting off the demons of temptation or wondering how we’re going to get through a trial that remaining in Him is anything but easy. I have confident hope that I’ll get there. Maybe not 24/7, but maybe now and again. When I think back on some of the major trials in my life, God has ALWAYS walked me through them. He’s always been there to be the Light at the end of my tunnels.

My experience has been if I stay at I “can do” all things – I will just make it.
However if I am “more than a conqueror”, I am – Praise the Lord in His stremgth!

Excellent thought, Evelyn. Makes perfect sense. Thank you for sharing. I like that, “We’re more than a conqueror.” Amen.
