JES13 – Pioneering Family Worship

I hope that title isn’t too misleading. I don’t want to talk about the history of Family Worship but rather the present. I want to speak to all of those who are in new seasons of life pioneering their own journey.

What makes a pioneer is his station on a frontier. Pioneering requires at least 2 elements: forward movement and a newness or uniqueness.

All the families of the earth…
A new family is just that, new. The two leave their former families and create a new family.

They have a blank page to write on or they can choose to create a synthetical solution that engages portions of both families’ backgrounds.

In fact, family is one of the pictures of the church God gives us. Since we are on the move toward the end of time, both our spiritual family and our physical family are on the move.

How we celebrate holidays as a family looks different from one phase of life to the next.

Blessed to be a blessing…
We are all starting something new. Therefore even our traditions and habits are pioneering. Of course, we are being woven into a beautiful tapestry but we are adding our own new colors.

It is holidays that make me really reflect on Family Worship as a Pioneering venture. I am overjoyed at stories I am seeing all over social media. Many of our friends and family are at the same stage as us in rearing their children.

Even for families of other ages, I keep seeing this humble approach to looking at things afresh. Re-evaluation and even repentance in some cases are great examples for us new and/or younger mom’s and dad’s.

…and then the end will come.
Families are figuring out what they’ll do together to really teach their kids what they are celebrating. They’re asking this,

“What are we really leaving with our children?”

Thank you for encouraging me.

Don’t stop raising your families to become disciple making disciple makers.

Pioneering and reverse engineering tell us to stay on the move, pressing on for the prize, pushing our children out by preparing them to lead their own families someday.
