Praying For Laborers In The Harvest
These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
Luke 10:2
As we pray for America we need to see the people living around us and in the world. Those who are hurting, empty, wandering without hope, deceived.
Jesus commanded us specifically to pray that God, the Lord of the harvest would send more laborers into His harvest field of souls.
Jesus’s solution to overwhelming human needs is prayer –for more people to serve in ministry. The following are prayer points we can use as we  pray for laborers to the harvest

As we pray for His kingdom to come we pray for more people to seek first and serve His kingdom.  One man or woman completely surrendered to God filled with His Spirit can radically impact marriages, families, churches, businesses, and culture in a city.
(See Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Acts etc;) Any follower of Jesus is called to be a laborer in Gods “harvest field”. Praying, serving, giving, going.

This mission should be given the highest priority. We get lost in our obsession with personal needs and entertainment, and forget the tragedy of  the spiritual lost. Hundreds of thousands in our nation have no relationship with God. Hundreds of millions need to hear the message in the world. The task is enormous, but this is His kingdom calling and agenda. Nothing is impossible for God.

Pray for your pastors. Their challenges are many, their work is eternal and vital. The attacks of the enemy against them are intense. If you want a better pastor start praying boldly and faithfully for the one you already have. Rally your church to do the same. Ephesians 6:19-20

Pray for other pastors, churches. Pray for unity among them, that they will meet and pray for one another and for your city, for the world.

Pray for other ministries, para-church, campus ministries, family ministries, Christian schools and colleges, humanitarian ministries, those serving the least, the last, the lost around them. Pray they will be strong and true to the Word and to the Lord as opposition in our culture and world increases.

Finally, Lord  give us a heart for people.

A heart of love and compassion for the lost. A renewed love for the gospel and a deep admiration and concern for those who already at work in the harvest fields. I pray that You would deliver them and those to come from the evil one, empower Your laborers to boldly proclaim and represent You and Your Word to the world until You return. Help me to be obedient to Your voice and do my part in advancing Your kingdom on earth.

From the book “The Battle Plan For Prayer” by Stephan and Alex Kendrick

In Jesus name we pray! Amen

About HCliffCraig.com

“Now at last they were beginning chapter One of the great story no one on earth has read: which goes on forever”. I love this line at the end of the Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. Everyone has a story to tell and ultimately we are all part of a greater story that someday will be revealed in full. “ For now, we can only see a dim and blurry picture of things”. ( 1 Corinthians 13:12). My story is not remarkable, although the events I have had the privilege in my life to witness have been. I grew up in the south “the land of cotton” and the old times there were definitely not forgotten. I remember where I was and what I was doing when JFK and Martin Luther King were murdered in Dallas and in Memphis. I remember the Civil Rights movement, a time of great unrest and change. I remember the dawning of the “Age of Aquarius” in the late 1960’s. It was also the dawning of my love for playing music, a love that has stayed with me throughout my life. If my life were chapters in a book one would tell of my precious bride of 20+ years who endured so much and stood beside me through the good and the bad. One would describe the blessings of being a father and a grandfather. One would tell about how despite being “the wretch” the song sings about God was able to change me, and use me to make a difference in others lives, make me a servant in His church, and surround me with friends all because of His goodness. All part of a story that has had many twists and turns. I think of the words Jimmy Buffet wrote in one of my favorite songs "As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin’ man I have chalked up many a mile Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks And I learned much from both of their styles" And so it is true for me. But in all of my travels and all I have read and experienced nothing compares to where I am headed. The place where my story here ends and the story that goes on forever begins! "" I am confident that He who began a good work in you will carry it on until completion until the day He returns". Philippians 1:6 My hope is that as we all run our race that in some small way my words will encourage and speak to you, as your story is being written. And draw you ever closer to the One who loves you. Further up and further in!
