CAUTION: Today’s post contains a frank, candid discussion of the state of the bride of Christ. To err on the side of caution, I recommend it for adult readers only.
Today at Target stores if you’re a guy and feel like a girl, you can use the girls’ bathroom. Or if you’re a girl, and feel like a guy, you can use Target’s mens’ bathroom.
Target announced on April 19, “We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity,”
“Nearly everyone has a mother, wife, daughter or friend who is put in jeopardy by this policy,” American Family Association President Tim Wildmon said. “Predators and voyeurs would take advantage of the policy to prey on vulnerable little girls and women.
“Everybody knows it’s wrong for men to use the same bathrooms and fitting rooms with little girls,” Wildmon said. “Target has decided they don’t care about the vast majority. They only care about the tiny, tiny minority.”
No one got to choose their parents, or how God delivered them on their birthday. No person can choose his/her identity. Our physical, spiritual and emotional identity was created by God. Guys can’t load up on estrogen (or girls on testosterone) and change what God created. Just because some folks don’t believe that doesn’t mean it’s not true. It is.
The church is responsible for this and dozens of other social and cultural abominations. The church is at fault. Not society. Not government. Not rock & roll. Not Hollywood. Not gays. Not transgenders. Not bad parenting. Not drugs. Not over-sexed teenagers.
It’s the church.
The Bride of Christ has soiled undies. She’s been slowly abdicating her role as Ambassador for Christ. She is forgetting the covenant with her God. She has not listened to the voice of her teachers. She is almost in utter ruin. She is loosing her influence. She is losing her power. She is losing her beauty and her luster.
The world no longer gazes on her and smiles in acceptance and admiration. The world looks at her and laughs and mocks. They criticize her values and beliefs and call her a hypocrite. They accuse her of being intolerant.
That’s us, folks. We are her. She is us. Oh, some folks are passionate about their causes or their mission trips or their committees or their Bible study class or their church status or the Bile verses they’ve memorized. Some folks boast of their years as a believer. Read their Bible daily. Tithe. invite dozens to church. Many folks truly believe they’re doing everything right.
But, as Christ admonishes the church at Laodicea,
I know your deeds, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. From Revelation 3:14-21
We are the bride of Christ. Our undies are soiled.
And our singular hope for regaining our ravishing beauty for Jesus is 2 Chronicles 7:14.
