My response to Dallas, San Bernadino, Orlando and beyond

Editor’s Note: I wrote this blog post two days before the
police murders in Baton Rouge.

A fellow blogger on challenged us to write a blog post conveying our thoughts and feelings about the killings in Dallas, Orlando, San Bernardino and beyond. Here goes . . .

It doesn’t matter whether you’re an atheist, a member of law enforcement, an angry BLM man or woman, a politician, a conservative, a Hindu, a gay, a liberal, a racist, a senior citizen, a blue-collar worker, a homeschooling parent, a Millennial, a Black Panther, a Muslim, a citizen, a refugee, a Jew, or a Christian. All the following are undeniably true:

  • Hatred stirs up strife,
    But love covers all transgressions.
  • When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable,
but he who restrains his lips is wise.
  • A hot-tempered man or woman stirs up strife,
but he or she who is slow to anger quiets contention.
  • A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
  • Better is a dry morsel with quiet
than a house full of feasting with strife.
  • Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.
  • A simple person believes anything;
but a prudent person gives thought to their ways.
  • A person who has no love is dead. Anyone who hates another person is really a murderer at heart.
  • Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life away from evil; hold on for dear life to what is good. Be a good friend who loves deeply; practice playing second fiddle.
  • We must forgive others quickly before bitterness turns into hatred.
  • Love one another, even those you think you hate.

Nice job collating these thoughts from the mind of our Savior and King. The Spirit nailed it though you. These “natural brute beasts” who have shed innocent blood are really God-haters. They are fighting against love and light. You can fight against hatred and sadness and chaos, but you cannot fight love, joy, and peace. If you do, you will lose. For light vanquishes darkness, even as the morning conquers the night ( ). Keep up the good work…Kenneth Wayne Hancock
