40 Days of Prayer For America

Beginning September 30th we will begin 40 days of prayer leading up to the presidential election on November 8th.

Our country began with a revolution.
A revolution is what is needed now.
Not a revolution that overthrows a government, but a personal revolution.
If a man has not discovered something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live”
Martin Luther King
I want to begin this 40 day journey of prayer with a question for my brothers, for any man who might be reading this.
What are you willing to give your life for?
Are you willing to lay down personal ambition, need for recreation, your pride, your entitlement?
Are you willing to go against the grain of culture to take a stand for what is right, lead instead of follow?
Are you willing to do these things and more, to lead your family by example,  take an active role for good in your community in your church?
Are you willing to stand the post that God has called you to?
In Malachi 4  God gives us an amazing  promise that in the last days He would cause the hearts of the father’s to be turned to the children.
“He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents”
We see in this the promise that as God’s heart is turned to us, our hearts turn to Him. We pass this on to our children and hopefully the cycle repeats itself.
Restoration occurs.
But we must hear the warning, the consequences of rejecting this generous offer.
“I will come and strike the land with total destruction.” – Malachi 4:6

We are witnesses to the destruction that is afflicting our nation..
As men we have failed to stand our post as fathers and husbands.
Because of our hardness of heart towards God, our father ..
This is where we began our 40 day journey.

With a revolution.
With a call for men, grandfathers, fathers, husbands  to allow their hearts to be touched by God, to accept as a gift what it is hard for us to give.
A Father’s love.
That we might pass it on…
This where we begin.
Father we ask for your forgiveness and for your help.
Forgiveness because we have failed in our responsibility to love and lead our families.
We ask that You would grant us repentance. Change our hearts and our direction
Help us to become what You are calling us to be
Help us to love and lead with our Father’s heart.

About HCliffCraig.com

“Now at last they were beginning chapter One of the great story no one on earth has read: which goes on forever”. I love this line at the end of the Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. Everyone has a story to tell and ultimately we are all part of a greater story that someday will be revealed in full. “ For now, we can only see a dim and blurry picture of things”. ( 1 Corinthians 13:12). My story is not remarkable, although the events I have had the privilege in my life to witness have been. I grew up in the south “the land of cotton” and the old times there were definitely not forgotten. I remember where I was and what I was doing when JFK and Martin Luther King were murdered in Dallas and in Memphis. I remember the Civil Rights movement, a time of great unrest and change. I remember the dawning of the “Age of Aquarius” in the late 1960’s. It was also the dawning of my love for playing music, a love that has stayed with me throughout my life. If my life were chapters in a book one would tell of my precious bride of 20+ years who endured so much and stood beside me through the good and the bad. One would describe the blessings of being a father and a grandfather. One would tell about how despite being “the wretch” the song sings about God was able to change me, and use me to make a difference in others lives, make me a servant in His church, and surround me with friends all because of His goodness. All part of a story that has had many twists and turns. I think of the words Jimmy Buffet wrote in one of my favorite songs "As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin’ man I have chalked up many a mile Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks And I learned much from both of their styles" And so it is true for me. But in all of my travels and all I have read and experienced nothing compares to where I am headed. The place where my story here ends and the story that goes on forever begins! "" I am confident that He who began a good work in you will carry it on until completion until the day He returns". Philippians 1:6 My hope is that as we all run our race that in some small way my words will encourage and speak to you, as your story is being written. And draw you ever closer to the One who loves you. Further up and further in!
