ATB14 Through It All

This year it seems has indeed gone by very quickly.  I can recall as a child on many an occasion my parents talking about the older you get the faster time goes by.  I will admit that as a child I often would just think to myself, “well that can’t be true.”

Now that I am no longer a child, and see and understand differently, I must admit that my parents were 100% on the mark.  For me as well I am sure for others, it seems as if the beginning of the year was indeed just a few weeks ago.  One minute perhaps we spoke about what the New Year would bring.  And now the next minute we find ourselves reflecting back on what that New Year brought us. Each of us in looking back over the past year might I would surmise be inclined to perhaps quote Charles Dickens’ famous line from his novel A Tall of Two Cities. “It Was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

A year in review.  Numerous news channels as the year ends take time to look back over the course of the year at the different events that occurred.  As is the case each year there are good things that bring a smile to our face, and there are the bad things that leave us with a certain sense of sadness.  Just as the national and or international news outlets look at the year in review, we too I believe will take time to look back over the year to see what has transpired.

For each of us I am sure there have been both the good times as well as the bad times.  Good times than may as an example speak to the joy of a new family member.  Or perhaps it was the break through on a job that you have been longing for.  Good times that surely brought us the joy of experiencing the best of what life may bring us.

And then there are the bad times. Perhaps it was the disappointment of not achieving a personal goal.  Maybe it was the fact that you may have received discouraging news about your health.  Or sad to say maybe it was the loss of someone who meant the world to you. Life it has been said offers few guarantees. Guarantees that as such might be subject to interpretation.

With this the end of another year, while each of us take time to look back at all that we have been through, it is safe to say in my estimation that through it all, God has been there for us and with us.  Be it moments where our joy was unspeakable, or our heartbreak unbearable, God is with us.

Gods has declared that he will be with us always.  His presence in our lives will be constant and ever lasting.  For as it has been written, He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us.  Nothing that we go through, nothing that we may struggle through , nothing either in heaven or earth will ever separate him from us.  For every mountain high, he will be there for us.  For each valley low, he is there for us.

As this another year does indeed come to a close, as yet another year in our life is added to past chapters along our journey, let us be sure to say thank you to God.  Thank him for first of all making it through another year.  Thank him for being there with us each minute of each day.  Thank him because through it all, because of him, we made it through.

To God Be The Glory

About dupree73

I was raised and grew up in the United Methodist Church. While I do proudly embrace my background and personal history within the United Methodist Church, I do feel that ultimately what is important is not the denomination that you are a part of. What matters most is the relationship that you have with the Lord. Part and parcel to any relationship is the level of commitment that one makes to it. With any and all relationships they are going to take time to grow. Through the years if I were to describe my relationship with the Lord using one word it would be “transformation.” Continuing to grow daily in my walk with the Lord, and as well continue to display the fruits of his spirit daily is for me what my life is all about. Frankly for these times, my attitude and belief is that the world is looking at those who are Christians to see if in fact their talk does indeed match their walk. As for me, my goal is to on a daily basis to be that individual who by virtue of their talk and their walk is by nature “peculiar.” If then by chance this way of living does indeed glorify the Lord, then my life indeed is destined to make a difference.
