No one wants to wait.
To be very honest, waiting for me is probably one of the many things I don’t want to experience. Waiting is hard!
In light of the recent weeks, I have been asking God to provide me a job. Though the wait is not easy, I have always seen the Lord’s provision on my daily needs and to that, I am more than grateful. This made me think deeper as to my fellow brothers and sisters in faith who might be waiting for their prayers to also be answered. I have realized that indeed waiting for something you have been asking God for quite some time is not easy at all, nor it is pleasant.
Waiting, especially when out of the bounds of faith, can cause a believer deep anxiety, feeling of abandonment and even frustrations. To some of us, one concern of our fellow believer can be seen as something petty. Most people would think “that it’s only a “job”, you’ll find something soon. Do not worry about it”. Whenever someone says that to me, I always think to myself, “You can say that because you are not the one in my shoes.” But really, how many of us would often tell the people we know, if they come to us with a concern, the same thing? I have realized that whenever someone talks to me about their problems, I quickly try to dismiss it by saying something encouraging so they stop bugging me about it, rather than listen intently and pray for them.
The other day, I have talked to Lord about having a job again. Like many of David’s psalm, I have questioned God as to how I feel anxious about it. I know that He has always provided. There had been job offers actually, but I don’t feel at peace with working there. There are times I have thought about it, “maybe I never should have turned that one down. Will there be one that fits me now?” My inbox is empty since last week, no emails from employers and somehow I feel a little anxious about it.
However, as I was reading the book of Psalm the other day, this passage from Psalm 56:3 is truly encouraging -“When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” The enemy may try to tell me otherwise, but I know that at this time of waiting, God with me. I may not see things coming my way, but I will choose to trust Him still. I know that the Maker of the earth is always in control.
Let us be encouraged that the Lord never forsakes the sparrows, and are we not greater in the eyes of God than they? Philippians 4:19 says, “ My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.” So whatever lack, anxiety, sadness, feelings of abandonment and pain we may face in times of waiting, let us remember that God is always in control.
