Looking for Wisdom

The internet is full of people who have all kinds of ingenious ideas and my family loves to discover the fantastic creativity displayed on any one of the millions of posts available at any time.

While you can learn a lot of nifty things from a cornucopia of really innovative people, believers need to be careful not to be do-it-yourselfers when it comes to seeking enduring wisdom.  Proverbs 9 identifies the only one source of true wisdom. Verse 10 tells us that “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” So Scripture is expressly clear that wisdom’s source is God Himself.  As we learn to seek Him in the pages of the Bible and rely on the Holy Spirit to help us understand, only then will we begin to develop a holy awe for the Lord which is the fountain of all true knowledge and understanding.

Since holy means separate; other; and distinct, it’s imperative that we recognize at we’re not seeking insight into spiritual things from simply the latest version of the “smartest person” or visionary we can find on earth.  Nor are we looking for a more refined and acceptable version of man’s philosophy.  Only through the pages of scripture does God give His wisdom which is higher, loftier and truly ‘holy’!  And since all that He gives is a reflection of His character and heart, we can be assured that it’s always right, perfect and comes with no assembly required.
