About two nights ago, half past eleven in the evening, I was on my bed sleeping when I woke up upon hearing a loud sound of what sounded to me was a howling dog. It was right after the rain stopped pouring heavily. The sound got louder as the minutes passed.
So I decided to take a look. When I glanced outside the window, I didn’t see anything so I went outside. I tried looking for wherever that sound came. I thought it might be a bullfrog but until about a few feet away, a calf looking distraught surfaced in front of me. I wasn’t able to see it right away as it was behind the bushes. The calf’s cry grew louder and louder, up to the point that it became really bothersome.
I remember just thinking, “Where are the cows?”. It wasn’t the first time that I’ve seen cows walking pass our place. They usually walk around the streets in a group of 3 or 4 cows at a time, mostly during the day but what was a bit weird was that this crying calf was all by itself lost at midnight! Anyway, I wanted to help the calf but was a bit scared that it might go wild so I just prayed -“Lord, give the calf wisdom to know what to do.” Yeah, I know it’s quite a funny thing to do but after a few minutes of that constant crying, to the far left of the road, I saw this huge male cow coming over. It seemed to walk calm and dignified as it approaches the crying calf.
When I saw that he came pass the crying calf, immediately it stopped crying. I saw about 3 more cows walking behind it. When a female cow got near the little one, they both followed the male cow who walked ahead and together all of them walked away.
For some reason, what I saw that night put a smile on my face. I was a bit worried for the calf, I know it wouldn’t stop crying unless it be rescued by its peers. In the same manner, God is our great Shepherd. He will hear His children when we cry to Him with our problems, worries, petitions and requests. Let us not be weary as every prayer is accounted in His ears and are noted in His records. Psalm 145: 18 reminds us “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”
Stay blessed friends! 🙂
