The Value We Put In Serving God

Lately, I noticed myself asking things about the benefits I personally get from working in the ministry. If you have read my previous posts, I have talked about our small church in the city- about less than 50 people.

By the goodness of God, he has opened to us a children’s ministry program in which every Sunday afternoon we gather children and teach them the Word of God. I am blessed to be given the opportunity to become one of the teachers in this ministry. The children has taught me so many relevant truths about faith. Jesus said, “…Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

A few weeks ago, I overhear a conversation where a woman said “What do I get from that? That doesn’t get me money.” It is a bit weird but a thought rushed in my head – “Money? Are things always have to be about money?”

The Bible states that “the love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6:10). It is a sad reality that even in church ministry, most Christians would find it hard to work had we get something good and favorable out of it.

Here is a simple reminder for me this week: Am I not ought to heartily labor simply out of love for my Saviour?

Thank you Schist14 for this timely reminder. We serve God in appreciation for His salvation, love, protection, and sustenance and not for money. The Lord’s pleasure means more than money can buy.
