As the title says there is a Lightbearer that is being overlooked by the majority of Christians. Let me introduce you to such a one:
She lived in the 1800’s and even though she suffered a head injury as a child God used her to help build His Kingdom. Before she became a Lightbearer she had doubts and fears on whether she could be saved, and thought that because of her sins she was going to burn up in hell. Jesus showed her that He loved her very much and that she didn’t have to fear on being lost forever. With great joy she believed Him and gave her heart to Him. Then at the age of 17 she was called to share the gospel with the world. She told people about the love of Jesus that she discovered and how to live the Christian life in a way that would please and honor Him. She wrote many books on these subjects and those who have read them have found great blessings in them. Myself included.
Would you like to know the name of this servant of the Good King? Her name was Ellen White. You may have heard some people say that she’s a false prophet and that her writings go completely against the Bible. Sadly, I thought so once too. But Jesus showed me how wonderful and beneficial the books are. And I have seen that perhaps the reason why there are those who don’t want anything to do with her is because some of the things written are hard and meaty stuff. It’s not easy to give up the things that draw us far away from Jesus and from the Kingdom of Heaven. But we need to bear in mind that our Good King has told us in His Word that if we want to follow Him we need to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Him (Matthew 16:24). And we also should keep in mind that if we are showed what is hindering us in our walk with Jesus it is because God loves us and doesn’t want us to lose our eternal life over it. And the best part is that Jesus is more than willing to help us overcome the sinful habit or practice that we desire. We don’t do it alone.
What’s sad is that those who won’t read the books are missing out on some wonderful inspiring encouragements. Here are a few that have really blessed me:
“The strength of those who love and serve God will be renewed day by day. There is to be no despondency in connection with God’s service…God is able and willing to bestow upon His servants all the strength they need and to give them the wisdom that their varied necessities demand. He will more than fulfill the highest expectations of those who put their trust in Him.” (The Acts Of The Apostles, p. 242)
“The Father’s presence encircled Christ, and nothing befell Him but that which infinite love permitted for the blessing of the world. Here was His source of comfort, and it is for us. He who is imbued with the Spirit of Christ abides in Christ. The blow that is aimed at him falls upon the Saviour, who surrounds him with His presence. Whatever comes to him comes from Christ. He has no need to resist evil, for Christ is his defense. Nothing can touch him except by our Lord’s permission, and ‘all things’ that are permitted, ‘work together for good to them that love God.’ ” (Thoughts From The Mount Of Blessings, pg. 71)
These are only an inkling of the many encouragements that can be found in Ellen White’s writings.
If you would like to personally check out her books here are some that I would recommend starting with:
Make sure you have your Bible with you when you check out these books. And as you use the two together you will see for yourself that what she wrote about agrees with the Holy Word of God. And be sure to pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
I hope that this article has blessed you and has given you the motivation to check out this overlooked Lightbearer; and help you find a place in your heart to accept her along with Charles Spurgeon, Andrew Murray, and other faithful Lightbearers that the Good King has used in the past.
