The Sun Will Rise

download (3).jpeg

So many times we take things for granted.
For instance the Sun.
Every morning the sun comes up without any prompting.
In fact it’s rising and setting is so dependable it can be predicted months ahead of time.
Since the beginning of time (however you may think that came about) it has continued to do so.
Day after day.
Month after month.
Year after year.
Equally amazing is burning at the equivalent of 100 billion hydrogen bombs, the Sun is just far enough away to provide heat and light but never moves close enough to harm us.
And thats not all.
The gravitational pull of the Sun keeps all the other planets in orbit.
Right now, Earth is orbiting the sun at a blazing speed of 67,000 miles per hour. If the sun vanished, its gravitational pull would be gone, but Earth’s speed would remain the same.
To understand why, picture yourself tying a rock to the end of a string and then swinging that string in a circle over your head. Then you let go of the string. The rock goes flying in a straight line away from you, the same way that Earth would go flying in a straight line away from the central point in space where the sun used to sit.
Have you ever thought about the effect on human beings if there was a morning the Sun did not rise? If the Sun did not shine?
An article in Popular Science tells us within a week, the average global surface temperature would drop below 0°F. In a year, it would dip to –100°.
All photosynthesis would cease, plant life animal life and eventually human life would not survive.
Taking into account the importance of the Sun in regard to all life on planet Earth, and it’s central role in keeping the planet’s on course, preventing them from crashing into one another should cause us to never look at a sunrise the same again.

In a world filled with disorder, the Sun, the Moon, and the planet’s continue in perfect rotation, the constellations remain in perfect formations.
How is this possible?
John 1:3 tells us “Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made”.
In Psalm 8:3 the psalmist proclaims
” when I consider your Heavens the work of your fingers the moon and the stars which you have set in place what is man that you are mindful of him?”
A good question indeed.
Who are we that God would even care about us? We take the things that God has created for good and order, and create evil and disorder. And worse still deny the One who made it all.
In the morning if you’re up early enough to watch the sunrise let it remind you of another sunrise to come.
One day the Son will rise on all mankind and set things in order as they were meant to be.
The cold darkness that exists in our world will end.
The light of The Son will shine on us.
Forever.
The next time you see the sunrise let it be a reminder of that promise.
The promise that all that call upon Him will be saved.
The promise that all who reject Him will be lost.

About HCliffCraig.com

“Now at last they were beginning chapter One of the great story no one on earth has read: which goes on forever”. I love this line at the end of the Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. Everyone has a story to tell and ultimately we are all part of a greater story that someday will be revealed in full. “ For now, we can only see a dim and blurry picture of things”. ( 1 Corinthians 13:12). My story is not remarkable, although the events I have had the privilege in my life to witness have been. I grew up in the south “the land of cotton” and the old times there were definitely not forgotten. I remember where I was and what I was doing when JFK and Martin Luther King were murdered in Dallas and in Memphis. I remember the Civil Rights movement, a time of great unrest and change. I remember the dawning of the “Age of Aquarius” in the late 1960’s. It was also the dawning of my love for playing music, a love that has stayed with me throughout my life. If my life were chapters in a book one would tell of my precious bride of 20+ years who endured so much and stood beside me through the good and the bad. One would describe the blessings of being a father and a grandfather. One would tell about how despite being “the wretch” the song sings about God was able to change me, and use me to make a difference in others lives, make me a servant in His church, and surround me with friends all because of His goodness. All part of a story that has had many twists and turns. I think of the words Jimmy Buffet wrote in one of my favorite songs "As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin’ man I have chalked up many a mile Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks And I learned much from both of their styles" And so it is true for me. But in all of my travels and all I have read and experienced nothing compares to where I am headed. The place where my story here ends and the story that goes on forever begins! "" I am confident that He who began a good work in you will carry it on until completion until the day He returns". Philippians 1:6 My hope is that as we all run our race that in some small way my words will encourage and speak to you, as your story is being written. And draw you ever closer to the One who loves you. Further up and further in!
