“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 NIV
I awoke this morning with a smile on my face. Life in my nest is about to get very full as my sons are on their way home from college and mama bird can not wait to see them. When I read the above verse over coffee today I was reminded how good and how faithful a God we have. There was a time I never thought I would become a mom. I had given up on my hope.
Yet, that wasn’t God’s plan. And though I had to wait on Him – the proof of His faithfulness will be walking through my door in a few short hours.
In reading the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 15 the Apostle Paul is writing about our victory in Christ.
A victory not strived for or deserved or even accomplished within his efforts. This is a victory that God planned in advance for His children. A provision. His timing. His plan.
This is just what GOD DOES, in His will though.
And at just the right time, while we were (and are) still sinners God chose to love His creation so much that He would wrap himself in flesh, take on the vagaries, the challenges, the heartbreak and the essence of humanity to become one with us and one of us. EMMANUEL. God with us. Fully Man. Fully GOD. Fully understanding.
He came. He loved. We conquered…and in Him, because of Him. We are victorious….and that is the story of Christmas. When we trust God’s gift – we all win.
Amen. And AMEN.
