When Your Heart Stops

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” 1 Peter 5:10

Today is Christmas Day. What a glorious sweet and love-filled good moment it has been. My house is full. My heart is fuller. Yet. It has been a very difficult 2019.

But God. If there is but one lesson I have learned this year – it is that God is a God of plans, of restoration and of revelation. (Ok, maybe that is 3 things).

But really. I just want to tell you dear friend that OUR GOD is a real big planner. Implementer. And Hero. This year started off rough. Last year I wrote about bulldozing 2018. Could that year have been any more challenging? I. Was. So. Glad. To. See. It. GO.

And yet, 2019 was a year of even more tribulation. When? I thought would I ever be back to normal. No such thing folks. It is now a new Normal. And that is ok.

Because of God.

He has taught me so much in the valley. Loss. Damage. Oh so much mud. But I have learned Huge lessons in the shadows. He broke my heart. Even stopped it …put me virtually on life support. And then, at just the right time and in His way only He can manage – He pumped vigor, joy and thankfulness into it.

So as this year wanes and you too face the old and the new – friend, I want to encourage you. Life is this way. High. Lows. And in Betweens.

But God. In this Christmas season even so, the world is reminded once again of His steadfastness – and the confirmations and reconciliation of His promises.

So, when God seems slow, distant and quiet please remember – He is working. He is moving. He may have to stop your heart to make you quietly wait on Him, but I promise you He will pump into it more understanding, more truth, more discernment and more passion for life, for Him and patience than you ever had before.

It is not how you start the race friend. It is how you finish. And what I have learned is that God is always running along side of you in your race. And just when you think your heart can’t take any more…He restarts it. He rebuilds it. And he strengthens you for the next race.

He does this. He really really does. So. Stop and trust the trial and count on Him who will deliver you from it and look toward the future God has planned for you- whether you see it or not. He does. And that is all that matters.

Merry Christmas my friend. If God can save the whole world with just one birth of the Savior, know full well He’s got you covered too.

Amen and amen.

About setyourpathsstraight

It is my desire to serve God and others through writing; by proclaiming His goodness, provision and character in story form. Though I was not always a follower of Jesus Christ, I have experienced life changes that can only be a result of personally meeting Him. He is not a God of religion, but of relationship. I don't have the answers to life's challenges, but I know where to find them...only in God's Word can any of us stop following crooked paths. The month of my spiritual birthday, I read Proverbs 3:5-6 and claimed it as my life verse... "Trust in the Lord in all you do, lean not on your own understanding In all your ways acknowledge Him.... and He will Set Your Paths Straight." Thank you for your visit today. Please come back again.
