The Lord bless you… Numbers 6:24
It’s normal to hear believers in Jesus pray for the “blessing” of God as if it’s a tangible gift to receive or an answer to some long-awaited request. While there are always earthly things that we want and should turn to God for, those aren’t the real and enduring “blessings” of God. The book of Ephesians begins with the solid affirmation that as His children, the Father “has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” The word “blessed” is in the past tense in that sentence and the implication is clear… Our greatest blessings have already been given to us through our relationship with Chris.
Everything we truly need is found in Him and because we are joined with Him through faith, our blessing from Him is full and complete and because it is of Him, we “lack no good thing.” (Ps 34:10) So as you look around at your life that may sometimes seem lacking , remember that you have been given “new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” and are already in possession of “an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.” 1 Peter 1:3-4
