The Blessing – Part Three

The Lord make His face shine upon you … Numbers 6:25

The “face of the Lord” is commonly associated with His approval.  It speaks to a sense of His nearness, and the reality of His presence.  While there are many people who talk about sensing the presence of God, the scripture is clear that He doesn’t regard everyone in the same way. In Psalm 34 and 1 Peter 3, it says “The face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” But don’t be tricked into believing that you can just do ‘right’ things and be worthy of being in the company of the Lord.  You can’t.

Every person who has ever lived is born spiritually dead and unable to relate to God.  No amount of good behavior can change that.  Scripture makes it clear that you are dead, or you are alive… you are either in sin, or in Christ. And regardless of how wealthy, eloquent or influential you are, you can’t construct a bridge to God by yourself.

But the good news is that God has given you the option to allow His face shine upon you… and He did it by sending Jesus Christ.  He came to pay your penalty for sin and give you the glorious hope of restoration, wholeness and eternal life with Him.  Once you accept His offer of salvation and are truly in Christ, you are invited into God’s family and will enjoy His divine face of approval forever.

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me,
and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.
John 6:37
