All across the world on a daily basis we rise and prepare to go to work. If you are like me there is a process of preparation that you go through each morning as you are getting ready to hit the job.
All of us are going to go to many different types of jobs. Some will be what are called blue collar jobs. Other jobs may be what we call white collar jobs. And of course there are many other types of jobs which may not necessarily fit into either category.
For those who are going to a construction job there is an enforced code of standard for dress. There would of course be the proper shoes, clothing itself and the needed hard hat. Anything less would result in you not being able to work. I would imagine that you would be sent back home to get dressed properly.
Likewise if your job calls for you to wear business attire then that is of course company policy. Anything less would as well result in you being told that you are out of order.
Whatever the occupation that you are committed to the requirement of proper dress is one that is built on a principal of dressing for success.
Dress for Success. To be dressed for success is more than a physical requirement. As well it is about being in the proper mindset that will then create the attitude of not just dressing for success but also thinking about success.
With all of the aforementioned in mind I began to give thought to the commitment of dressing for success in a different manner. While each of us are certainly about the business of dressing for success when it comes to our jobs, there is a greater calling on our lives when it comes to dressing for success with our Christian walk.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes”
This is of course from Ephesians 6:10 and 11. A scripture that I have found to be very powerful and more important with each passing day. To this end what I have found in this scripture to be of importance is the need to be dressed properly. To be dressed for success.
We as Christians are going to face a myriad of challenges on a daily basis. Challenges that may begin with our families, and then from there can seem to come at us one after the other. Challenges that will test our endurance and sometimes push us to our very limits.
For each challenge that we will come face to face with, we must as well be of the mindset that because of who we are as Christians we are going out into the world with a target on us. The world itself these days seems to take special delight in putting us on the defense.
It is becoming more the rule rather than the exception whereby we are under siege. And if the truth is told, it is not going to decrease, it will continue to increase.
In as much as we must be on guard from the world itself, this world pales in comparison to our real enemy. As the scriptures declare Satan is going about on a daily basis like a lion, seeking whom he can devour.
The call for each of us as Christians is to be sure to put on the full armor of God. What is key to remember in these scriptures from Ephesians is our charge to put on the full armor. Not partial, not shall we say 80 percent. But the full armor.
God’s full armor is clearly spelled out for us. It is done so for our protection and as well as equips us to be able to withstand what we will come up against.
Satan’s mission is clear and precise. He will on a daily basis shoot fiery darts at us. His attacks will never cease. Thus as Christians we must have our armor on and be vigilant in acknowledging that we are in a battle. As scriptures remind us ours is not a battle against flesh and blood. Ours is a battle against the powers of this dark world.
Dress for Success. From the very second that we arise until the moment that we close our eyes to sleep we are called to keep on the full armor of God. As we do so we are to those around as well as to the world itself living witnesses to God’s protective hedge around us.
We then can proclaim not just by our words but by our actions that because of the full armor of God no weapon formed against us shall prosper.
To God be the Glory
