Be prepared – first aid bag
A headache, a blister on the finger or foot, a cut on the finger, a sprain, an allergy, muscle ache, a cough, a cold , temporary diarrhoea, slight temperature, are common aches and pains we all suffer at one time or another. The pain, the anxiety and where to get first aid are highlighted when I am on my own in a foreign country where the nearest medical help could be far away and very inconvenient for these minor happenings. So it is good that I be prepared with a small first aid bag with basic antiseptic swaps or cream, cotton wool , small medical scissors, waterproof plasters, gauze, common fever or painkillers, antihistamine for allergies, sprain or muscle ache balm. Burn antiseptic The list could be tailored to your personal needs.
Also be prepared with first aid steps for handling a knife cut, a burn, bleeding, torniquet, a fall for baby, elderly or yourself. Take care and hope I never need but I must be prepared to do first aid and know when to call the ambulance or police. (find out the relevant emergency numbers to call). If I am care-taking a senior I should know CPR, if there’s a baby of child know how to handle a choke , a fall and drowning if there is a pool or swimming.
Be prepared and with the Lord’s help I will get through an emergency.
