National service
In a few countries in Southeast Asia, the price of citizenship is national service. In Singapore the young boys after their high school are conscripted to be young men in national service for a minimum of 2 years full-time. They graduate as National Servicemen. Thereafter they serve 40 days per year as operationally ready servicemen till the age of 50.
As Christians, we join in the Lord’s service for life to fight the enemy who is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Let us be operationally ready as empowered by the Holy Spirit, with the Word of God as a light unto our path.
