At the swimming pool, fronting my apartment, I hear the group of children aged 6-15 say “Oh O my God” so often that I am tempted to call them out. Is it my duty when I am not their parent but just an observer?
How often do we want to be assimilated into a group of friends, workmates, social acquaintances, by adopting their speech, mannerism and values? Sometimes it is challenging to be different but who do we choose to please? The Lord or our peers? Let us be careful what we say – are we edifying, appropriate to the need in hand, does it offend those who hear what we say?
Ephesians 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear
