Philippians 2:12-16 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” ..
Ours is a generation of I, me and my. I want to do only what I like. It’s me and my businss first. So that when I come into situations when I do not get my way, I grumble or argue. My helper has been with me for nearly six years. When she was first employed, she did everythings she was asked to do with great willingness and joy. It seems familiarity may have bred some contempt as now she will grumble or argue when she prefers to defer, or make an excuse for not meeting requests for services. She was shy and happier when she first arrived, but now there is less of joy in service and standards of performance have dipped. Is she ready for a change?
Are we finding joy in our daily occupations or are we grumbling and arguing? We cannot be blameless when standards of performance have dropped and it is service no longer with a smile. How then should we stop being grouchies who do not bring honor and glory to the Lord, our employer or those we have to care for, help or work with? Remember that we are serving the Lord because we love Him, because He first loved us. Seek His will if it is time for change of occupation, or change in us to show forth a character to His praise. Let us fulfil our responsibilities with joy.
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
