Listen don’t talk so much
I have a helper who is sthe exact opporsite of me. Living in a local community in Myanmar is different from living in Singapore. In Myanmar, there is not so much internet communications or not so many people using internet, whatsapp, facebook, email, etc. If given the opportunity, she will chatter all day until I say stop! go and do your work. It takes lots of effort for her to shut up and to take instructions. Often she will hear the first half of a sentence which could mean do not do, and miss out on the second part which says what to do. It has got her into some trouble when she has done what she was not to do and not done what she was expressly directed to do.
How often, before the Lord have we donw\e the same? We tell the Lord what to do, instead of listening to what He wants us to do. It could be we are in a jam just because we have talked more than listened with Him.
[Jesus continued,] “To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.”— Mark 4:25 NLT
