What if
What if you are in a strange land and you are caught without Bible (no internet or handphones and access to Bible on phone or notebook or computer) in a bid for Christian persecution by the authorities? How many Bible verses/promises do you have hidden in your heart that will help you survive imprisonment or a lockup?
I was reminiscing when the Navigators was introduced to Singapore and I was only a young teen. I memorised, reviewed and hid many portions of God’s Word in my heart so that today I still remember quite a few. However, as the years have slipped by, it has been some time since I last memorised the Word of God, finding it so easy just to find it via Google. But if things turn awry and all Bibles in whatever mode is denied me? Will I/my faith survive? I have purposed to memorize the Bible again in my senior years, knowing I will not only hide God’s Word to keep me from sinning and keeping my faith,. it will help keep my memory active and working . In addition I am taking up keyboard music lessons just to play hymns and worship songs that will also keep my brain focussed and disciplined on the scores and words of praise. I want to be faithful and share the Word with others to the end.
Will you join me to memorise God’s Word, wherever you are?
Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
